To venture away from the traditional Texas backyard landscape, consider our grass thatch roofing as a way to transform your backyard into a tropical paradise.  With such a theme, you can escape from life's worries... every day of the week. 

There are a few options when working with our grass roofing.  First, you can simply buy the thatch and apply it to your own creation.  Second, you can purchase a grass umbrella kit, which includes all materials necessary, precut, to create this tropical ambiance.  You can assemble it, or we can.  Third, you can give us a vision of your perfect grass huts, and we will do all the engineering involved to make it come to life.  Yup, that's right, we will engineer and build a custom construction using thatch roofing.  All you have to do is enjoy it afterwards (and pay the bill, of course!). 

Keep in mind:  this roofing is not 100% rainproof.  The thatching cannot be placed upon a solid surface; rain needs to drain out of it to prevent rotting. 

Fire-retardant is an option.

Grass Thatch Panels

Each panel is approximately 48" wide by 36" tall.  Panels come pre-woven and ready for installation. 

When determining how much panel to buy, consider that for the plush palm-leave look, you will want to double layer the panels.  This also make the roofing more functional.  If using a double layer, use this formula:

[(Total Square Footage of Roof Area) x 2] / 12 = Number of Panels Needed

Installation steps are as follows:  Double layer thatch, install in horizontal rows starting at the bottom, staple to subsurface, install the next row just above, slightly overlapping, staple again, repeat per row.  Panels can be cut for project.  More complete installation instructions will be provided with purchase or upon request.

We also sell umbrella panels, which come in 9' and 12' diameters.  For these panels, simply throw both layers over the umbrella substructure and staple.

Our kits include everything but the tools.  We suggest the center pole be dug a minimum of 48" into the ground and reinforced with concrete.
