Request a Price Quote on Green Building The advantages of green building span far beyond minimizing negative impact on the environment. Whether it is built for commercial or residential use, there are actually many secondary benefits to inhabitants of these dwellings, as well. One of these benefits is that green buildings save you money! By reducing energy consumption and offering renewable energies, green buildings bring about a lower electric or gas bill. Water conservation means a lessened water bill. Also, green buildings are built to require little upkeep and to last for extended periods of time. This means lower maintenance costs in addition to low operating costs. If saving money wasn’t enough, the indoor air quality in a green building is significantly higher than in traditional-built buildings. Using low-VOC and low-chemical products means less carcinogens and allergens floating around on the inside of the building. In addition, from the initial planning, green buildings are designed to maximize productivity and easy living. This may mean a floor plan that is convenient and well-laid out for your purposes. Or, it might mean a location that is easily accessible to other places you might need to visit, including the grocery store or your main supplier. By minimizing these extra efforts, you are minimizing use of fuel and natural resources. Again, this saves you money, as well. The main misconception of green building is that these structures are ugly. People envision ultra-modern architecture and grass on the roof. While this is one way that green building can be performed, a green structure can look just like a traditional structure. For example, most wall systems can be finished just like those of a traditional building with rock, stucco, brick, siding, etc. Another misconception is that green building is unreasonably expensive. This is not the case. Actually, the money you save on material and disposal can actually completely overturn extra costs. In fact, green building costs about 0-10% more in the construction phase, a small increase considering the amount of benefits that are tacked on post-construction.
We are not your traditional construction company. Most construction companies simply organize the construction, finding sub-contractors to do the labor. While this practice is good in that many times these sub-contractors are specialists at the jobs they perform, it also presents it’s fair share of problems. A major problem is in finding quality sub-contractors. And how do you know if they aren’t quality sub-contractors? You hire them and wait until the project is finished. What does this mean? Your builder could hire a sub-contractor that produces poor results on your construction project. What a nightmare! Also, each sub-contractor wants to make a fair profit on each job that they do. Those little profits here and there start to add up. So, how do we fix these problems without sacrificing benefits to you as they building owner? We bring specialists of all kinds to work directly for our company. We have in-house masons, concrete finishers, designers, electricians, mill workers, fabricators, renewable energy system designers, etc. All of these individuals work exclusively at Monster Constructors. Why is this advantageous to you? Monster Constructors completely controls the quality of work produced. We can guarantee that the workers that we send to the jobsite will do a great job every time, period! Plus, whereas many sub-contractors will not communicate and work together very well, our workers are always on the same page! Now that you know that we can build it, we assure you that we can design your green building, too. Why? Because, of course, we have green building specialists on staff, too. At the head of the green building pack is Robert Lockridge. His father a builder, he has had experience in the house building industry since third grade. He grew up, however, to become a lawyer. He practiced international corporate and commercial law, but later found his passion was in green construction. He has been building green all over the country for the last seven years, starting with a commercial office building in Boston. He is a LEED certified builder and has been for three years. He is also on the board of the Green Built North Texas organization. If there is anyone that will know every facet of green building that there is to know, Robert is the guy. He has and continues to research new and better ways to “green-up” construction. He is at the forefront of green building in Texas. Also, on the green team, we have Jason Jackson, our renewable energies expert. He is NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners) certified, meaning he is recognized nationally and state-wide as a recommended solar system designer and installer. He is also trained in designing and installing wind turbines, battery back-up systems, and home regulating computer systems. He is green at heart, and does what he can to preserve our natural resources. Together, Jason and Robert are currently designing a new wind energy system in conjunction with Texas Tech University. These guys really know their stuff! Because we have these experts on staff, we can offer a variety of services.
