Gazebos make a wonderful addition to backyards. Whether a private relaxation spot or the scene for noisy barbeques, a gazebo will prove more useful that one might imagine. Not to mention, they are easy on the eyes!
Pergolas seem to be a perfect medium for many people. They allow a hint of sunshine while blocking just enough out. They serve as great protection for plants, shielding them from an overdose of sunlight. Plus, to many, they have an aesthetically pleasing look that cannot be rivaled. Like the look of a pergola but not crazy about your porch furniture getting drenched during a storm? Try adding roofing to a pergola structure, like that seen in the photo below. I bet you wouldn't have noticed it if we didn't point it out. This is the look of a pergola but the functionality of a porch structure. We have another material we can top a pergola with that is really neat. It is a clear plastic material, but actually keeps the area under the pergola cooler while still allowing natural night.
