DESCRIPTION: Concrete self
leveling material is a quick-setting, self drying
material. It
is specifically formulated for use as a resurfacing material for
interior,
horizontal floors. The design intent application of
the product is for light – traffic
industrial or
commercial wear topping.
Surface Preparation:
1.
All substrates must be structurally sound
2.
Clean the surface free from any material that could interfere
with the adhesion of
the applied material including but not
limited to, dirt, paint, tar, asphalt, wax, oil,
grease, latex
compounds, sealers, curing compounds, form release agents,
efflorescence,
foreign substances, and adhesive residue.
3.
Concrete surfaces must be must be mechanically profiled and
prepared by shotblasting,
sandblasting, water-jetting,
scarifying, diamond- grinding or another
approved method as
recognized by ICRI (International Concrete Re-Surfacing
Institute
as it applies to the standards of acceptable profile height.
4.
Substrate hydrostatic pressure conditions and vapor
transmissions must not
exceed 3 lbs. per 1000 square feet per
24 hours. Use a calcium chloride test
(ASTM F1869) prior to
application.
5. Use a calcium carbide test
to ensure that the retained moisture content of the
substrate
is less than 2.5%
6. Concrete substrate
and ambient temperatures must be a minimum of 50 degrees F,
and
not exceed 95 degrees F. Temperatures must be maintained in this range
for a
minimum of 72 hours.
7.
Fill in deep areas, holes or cracks with an appropriate
concrete restoration
product, particularly when installing
material on a second floor or above where
fluid material could
leak on the floor below.
8. Always prime
the substrate with Concrete Primer prior to the application
of Concrete Self-Leveling Overlayment.
9.
Avoid priming over standing water.
10.
Allow primer to completely dry before installation of self
leveling material.
11. Check for porosity
of the substrate so that adequate penetration of the primer can
be
achieved. Porous concrete may require more than one coat primer to
provide
proper bonding.
12. After
the surface preparation of the substrate has been completed, allow 48
hours
for out-gassing to occur before application of the
primer.
13. To install over properly
prepared ceramic tile, VAT,VCT, cement or epoxy
terrazzo, or
thin layers of old cutback adhesive residue, surfaces must be properly
prepared,
bonded, free from dirt, and dust and primed.
14.
To install over steel decking or metal, the requirements of
the L/360 deflection
must be met. Prime the surface at a 20
wet-mil thickness with Concrete
epoxy primer. Apply Concrete Self Leveling material to the Epoxy primer
while
product is still tacky to ensure proper bonding.
Mixing:
General
Mixing:
Using a clean mixing
container, pour the required amount of clean, cool potable water. If
cool
water is not available, chill down the water to 70 degrees ambient
temperature. Add
Concrete Self Leveling material to
5.75 – 6 quarts of water per 50 lbs. of material
slowly
while mixing continuously. The mixing ratio must remain consistent. Do
Not
over-water material.
Barrel
Mixing:
Using the appropriate mixing
ratio above, mix using a low speed mixer (approx. 1200
rpm)
with an “Egg Beater” mixing paddle. Mix to a
homogenous, lump free consistency,
approximately 3 minutes. Do
Not over-mix. Over-mixing or moving the mixer up and
down
during the mixing process could cause air entrapment, which could
shorten the pot
life of the material or cause pin holing in
the material as it cures.
Pump
Mixing:
Concrete Self Leveling
Overlayment can be mechanically mixed, using the
appropriate
mixing ratio above with a Continuous Mixer and Pump, a minimum of 140
lineal
feet of hose or a Batch Mixer and Pump, with a minimum of 110 lineal
feet of
hose. Mixer and pump must be in good working
condition. Be sure to pressure test the
rotor and stator for
proper mixing. Be sure to use a mesh sock at the end of the hose so
that
foreign material will not migrate to the hopper.
Application
Procedures:
1. Before
application, close all doors, windows, to prevent drafts, protect all
areas
from direct sunlight.
2. Make sure
that ambient temperatures are at least 50 degrees F. Temperatures must
remain
consistent in this range after the application. For applications in
temperatures
above 85 degrees F, comply with ACI Hot Weather application for a
successful
installation.
3. For the best results, work as a
team to provide a continuous flow of wet material
to avoid
trapping air or creating a cold joint.
4. Set the
width of the pour at a distance that is ideal for maintaining a wet edge
throughout
placement. Quickly pour or pump onto the properly prepared and
primed
surface in a ribbon pattern. If a wet edge cannot be maintained, reduce
the
size of the pour.
5. Concrete
Self Leveling Overlayment has an appropriate flow time of
approx.
15 minutes at 73 degrees F is self leveling and can be applied from
featheredge.
For vehicular traffic to rubber wheel traffic, product can be applied
from
½ “ to 2” in a single application.
Please be aware that temperatures and
humidity can and will
affect the working time, flow ability, and set time. Apply
enough
material to adequately cover all high spots.
6.
Immediately after placing material, spread the product with a gauge
rake to the
desired depth, followed by a smoother to obtain an
even surface. Do not overwork
the material as it will cause a
risk of air entrapment.
7. Concrete Self
Leveling Overlayment hardens within 2 to 3 hours, and is
ready
to accept stains, sealers, or other coatings in as little as 24 hours.
The
material is also ready to accept ceramic tile and natural
stone in 3 to 4 hours. If
the self leveling overlayment is not
going to be the wearing surface, protect the
surface from
contaminants until final flooring installation is complete.
Curing:
1. Concrete Self Leveling Overlayment is a self curing product; do
not use a
damp curing method or curing and sealing compounds.
2.
Protect from excessive heat or draft conditions during curing. Turn off
all forced
ventilation and radiant heating systems, and
protect for up to 24 hours after
completion.
3.
Avoid walking on installed surface for at least 2 to 3 hours after
installation,
depending upon temperature and humidity
conditions.
4. Protect from traffic, dirt and dust
from other trades until the final floor sealer or
coating has
been installed and completely cured.
5. Do not
expose the self leveling material to rolling dynamic loads such as fork
lift
or scissor lift traffic for a minimum of 48 hours after
installation.
Cleaning:
Wash
tools and hands with water promptly before material hardens. Cured
material must
be mechanically removed.

THINK GREEN. We use
recycled concrete in lieu of gravel as aggregate in our
concrete. It doesn't cost us any extra; thus, it doesn't cost
you any extra. As far as structure, the recycled concrete is
just as strong as the gravel. We do what we can to save the
limited resources we have on earth.
