PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: Concrete Nature Seal is a blend of acrylic
copolymers that are specifically compounded to give the most diverse
service to
accommodate an industry which faces changing temperatures, fluctuating
moisture
contents, and non-yellowing characteristics of any known polymer for
the coatings
industry. Nature Seal has a high coefficient of friction, and provides
a tenacious
protection against efflorescence and chemical products for cleaning
which make Nature
Seal an excellent choice in hostile environment and exterior exposures.
PURPOSE:
Nature Seal has been specifically formulated to seal horizontal
architectural concrete products for protection and to enhance their
beauty.
Some unique qualities of Nature Seal are:
• Controlled permeability to allow pressurized vapor through a
film while
maintaining protection from water and other contaminants which can cause
efflorescence.
• Protection from prolonged exposure from salt water. (60 days
total immersion on
clear plastic with no adhesion loss, discoloration or visible moisture
in the film.
• Excellent adhesion to metals, ceramics, plastics, and
natural stone.
Nature
Seal is also very effective on the following:
• Exposed aggregate
• Block
• Limestone / Sandstone
• Cast in Place Concrete
• Many types of Architectural Concrete
APPLICATION
INSTRUCTIONS: Surfaces to be coated must be commercially
cleaned and all foreign materials that will interfere with adhesion, or
that are going to a
permanent part of the surface must be removed. All surfaces must be
thoroughly dry
before application. If the surface to be applied has visual or
suspected evidence of
moisture, a small mock up sample should be done on the concrete and
allowed to dry for
at least an hour to see if any blooming occurs. If there is blooming
present, then a
minimum of 24 hours of dry weather, and temperatures that will not fall
below 50
degrees Fahrenheit should exist before the application of this product.
A minimum of 48
hours or cure time should be allowed, if surface is to be subjected to
standing water or
blooming will occur.
Apply Concrete Nature Seal with a good quality lambs wool
applicator or a power
driven airless sprayer using a #15 tip or smaller, depending on the
porosity of the
concrete to be coated. Please Note: that in either case of application
methods, continuing
to work the surface is not recommended because excessive working of the
wet product
will not allow a protective film to form. Nature Seal is a
self-leveling coating if a thicker
application is desired. Applying Nature Seal in multiple thin coats and
allowing one hour
between applications is the most desirable procedure.
For airless applications, start each course at the top edge and proceed
down to the base
without interruption to prevent streaking. Hold spray nozzle
perpendicular to the surface
and overlap each coat. In order to reduce loss to the atmosphere and
over spray, do not
try to apply Nature Seal in too fine a mist. Coverage will depend on
the density and
texture of the surface to be coated. Thick applications and excessive
working of the
material are detrimental to both the aesthetics and the performance of
Nature Seal.
APPROXIMATE
COVERAGE RATE:
• Exposed Aggregate – 200-300 sq.ft. /gallon
• Brick – 200-300 sq.ft. /gallon
• Chemically Stained Concrete – 250-400sq.ft./gallon
• Hard Troweled Concrete – 300-450sq.ft./gallon
• Integral Colored Admixture – 300-400 sq.ft./gallon
• Color Hardened Concrete – 250-300 sq.ft./ gallon
LIMITATIONS:
Nature Seal is not intended for use in high traffic areas such as
roadways and or bridge decks, as bituminous surfaces will discolor
Nature Seal.
Nature Seal can be used as a primer; however some sealant materials
will be
adversely affected. Each application should be checked for suitability
by the end user.
Control joints should be protected as not to interfere with the primer
recommended by
the sealant manufacture.
Nature Seal should not be applied to concrete that has not cured 10-14
days
depending on the ambient temperature. According to the American
Concrete Institute,
concrete should actually cure a minimum of 21 days prior to applying
any permanent
coating.
DRYING
TIME:
Providing the ambient temperatures are above 70 degrees Fahrenheit, the
cure time is
approx. 2-4 hours. Do Not apply Nature Seal in temperatures that will
fall below 50
degrees Fahrenheit. Cloudy, cool and damp moisture filled days are not
condusive to
successful applications. Complete cure time for Concrete Nature
Seal is
approx. 72 hours at 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
