Concrete Solvent Sealer at Monster Constructors Store
DESCRIPTION: Concrete Solvent Seal
is a formulation of a 25% modified copolymers in a
blended solvent package. Concrete Solvent Seal is a
clear sealer that will not yellow under the
exposure to direct sunlight. It has several proposed uses such as, but
not limited to brick,
stone, exposed aggregate, pre-cast concrete, cast-in-place concrete, architecturally
colored concrete and stucco. Because of the high solids content of
Solvent Seal, it provides a UV
light resistance and long lasting, attractive, concrete surface. Note: Concrete Solvent Seal also
comes in other solids content to accommodate the desired proposed use.
PURPOSE:
Concrete Solvent Seal is
formulated to dustproof and provide an in depth beauty to new and old concrete,
masonry, and other cementitious materials. Solvent Seal protects the applied surface
of the concrete from rain and other airborne contaminants.
Concrete
Solvent Seal protects many types of surfaces: •
Exposed
Aggregate • Masonry • Block •
Stucco • Cast-in-place concrete •
Pre-cast or Pre-stressed concrete • Limestone or
Sandstone • Many types of Architectural Concrete (eg,
Integral, Dry-Shake Color Hardener, Chemically Stained
concrete or cementitious overlayments.
ADVANTAGES: •
Protects against rain • Gloss and non-gloss available •
Non-yellowing • Excellent adhesion •
Contaminant protection • Resist mildew and surface
staining
APPLICATION
PROCEDURES: Prior to
applying Concrete Solvent Seal, the surface
must be clean, dry, and free of grease, dirt, paint, and or
efflorescence. To remove dirt and other contaminants, consult
Monster Constructors for removal techniques. Improper cleaning
tools can and will cause surface defects in the concrete that will be
highlighted when the product is applied. These imperfections
in the surface will cause an undesirable end result. Another
method is by the use of a high pressure cold water wash using a pressure
of approx.1000 psi (6.9MPa). If the substrate is wet from the rain or
from cleaning, wait a minimum of 48 hours for the surface to
adequately dry before general application of the product
commences. Protect structures and adjacent areas from overspray as
mis-application can cause damage to surfaces that are not intended to
be coated. For best results apply Solvent Seal with an airless
power driven sprayer, or use a 3/8 inch nap roller for broom
finish, rock salt, or sand blasted surfaces, making sure a solvent resistant
core is used. Start each area at the top edge and proceed down to the
base without interruption to prevent streaking and or holidays
in the applied spray pattern. Hold sprayer nozzle
perpendicular to the surface and overlap each coat in order to reduce loss
of material through evaporation. Avoid back spray, and use a tip, which
atomizes Solvent Seal to a fine mist (approx. #15 tip)
Coverage will depend on the density, porosity, and texture of
the surface.
APPROXIMATE
COVERAGE RATES: •
Exposed Aggregate – 200-300 sq.ft. /gallon •
Brick – 200-300 sq.ft. /gallon • Stucco
– 150-200 sq.ft. /gallon • Concrete Block
– 50-100 sq.ft. /gallon • Cast-in-place
concrete – 200-250 sq.ft. /gallon •
Limestone / Sandstone – 150-250 sq.ft. /gallon •
Color Hardened Concrete – 250-300 sq.ft. •
Integral Colored Admixture – 300 – 400 sq.ft./gallon
Two coats
of Concrete Solvent
Seal are suggested. Apply second coat at a rate of approx. 300 sq.ft./
gallon. Note: Allow the first coat to dry before applying the second
coat. ( approx. 2-4 hours, depending on ambient temperatures)
DRY
TIME: Providing
the ambient temperatures are at approx.70 degrees Fahrenheit the
cure time is approx. 2-4 hours. Do Not apply product in temperatures
that will fall below 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Cloudy, cool, and
damp moisture filled days are not condusive to successful
applications. Complete cure time for Solvent Seal is 72 hours at 70
degrees Fahrenheit.
CLEAN
UP: For
tools and equipment used in the application process, use Xylene or 100
Aromatic Solvent.
LIMITATIONS: Concrete Solvent
Seal is not intended for areas subject to abrasion, such as bridge
decks and roadways. Do Not use Concrete Solvent
Seal on bituminous surfaces, as staining will result. Concrete Solvent
Seal will interfere with the adhesion of some joint sealants. Apply on
concrete that is a minimum of 14 days old.( will only apply to
late spring or early summer time). All other application
procedures are strongly urged to allow the concrete to cure a minimum
of 21-28 days as published by the American Concrete Institute. Failure
to follow these instructions will cause concrete to trap
moisture and become whitish in appearance, and surface
inconsistencies that will not allow regular and/or architectural concrete
to exhibit its correct desired affect.
WARNING: Concrete Solvent
Seal is a flammable mixture containing a blended solvent package. Prior
to using, make sure adequate ventilation is acquired. Solvent
Seal can cause irritation to the skin and eyes. Please refer
to the Material Safety Data Sheets and Technical Bulletins before
application of this product

THINK GREEN. We use
recycled concrete in lieu of gravel as aggregate in our
concrete. It doesn't cost us any extra; thus, it doesn't cost
you any extra. As far as structure, the recycled concrete is
just as strong as the gravel. We do what we can to save the
limited resources we have on earth.
